Temples

I love to see the temple. I am going there someday.  I am so grateful that I can attend the temples anytime I want, with the exception to the open house for the Provo City Center Temple.  I am having a difficult time getting tickets. Hopefully tomorrow will be my lucky day, if not, I will have to wait until it is open and just attend a session.  Temples are such a blessing.  Inside they provide peace, serenity, comfort, and beautiful saving ordinances for both the living and the dead. Here is a little story about the temple, a parable by me.

Two summers ago I was training for the Mt Nebo Marathon.  I was out on a long Saturday run.  19 miles to be exact.  I had Mark take me to the Murdock Trail head in Lehi.  I had planned to take the trail all the way home.  I had never been on that part of the trail before but it was completed and I should have been able to get all the way home on the trail.  At mile 6 as I crossed the Alpine Highway I couldn't find the trail.  I decided to just run down the road, I had done that before and I knew the trail ran behind the Fox Hollow golf course so I thought I would just go there and ask them how to get to the trail.  I took a detour to the clubhouse but no one new for sure but on person was certain I could get on  the trail at a park.  They gave me directions, just go down this road and then turn left on this road and it will be on your left in a few miles, so off I ran.  I really had no idea where I was going but was following the directions.  I got to the ballpark and saw someone running out of the park.  I asked them about the trail and they thought it was a mile or two north.  That is where I just came from and I didn't want to go that way so I knew I needed to get east and south to get home.  I headed east on the road I was on not sure where I was but figured I was in the right direction.  Then I came to a bit of a climb.  I am at about mile 9 now and hoping something would look familiar soon.  I get to the top or the hill and this is what I saw.

You have no idea how good this made me feel.  Once I saw the temple I new my way home.  What an amazing analogy, the temple will lead us home literally.  The temple gives us instruction to help us get back to our Heavenly Father.  If we know where the temple is, prepare ourselves to go, and then attend often it will guide us home.  Once I saw the temple I knew where I needed to go to get on the trail and head home.  I even had to take a photo of me with the temple.
I testify of the power of the temple.  If you haven't been to the temple, get yourself ready and go.  The temple can give you power and strength to get through these hard times.  You go to the temple to provide a saving ordinance for someone who has passed on but you receive much more.  I love the temple and I am going to go more this year.  I need the blessings!
